From Darkness to Light: Sovereignty, Faith in Action
Faith J Works (Faith In Jesus Works) was established out of obedience to God. To make the love of Jesus visible through real, meaningful service to others. At its core, we believe that faith in Jesus does, in fact, work. Our mission is to uphold and share the truth of God’s Word, not just through speech, but through living works of faith made alive by Christ alone.
Our story is inspired by a far greater story, God’s sovereign movement through history.
During the Dark Ages, the Word of God was hidden from the people because common people weren't able to read it. Light had been covered, and as Scripture says, when the light is covered, darkness reigns. But by God’s grace, during the Reformation, the light returned. The Word of God was uncovered and translated from Latin and Greek into the language of the people, so that every man, woman, and child could know the truth of the Gospel. From that point forward, the Bible was no longer bound to church hierarchy, but entrusted to the Church universal.
As the Renaissance unfolded, artists were used as instruments of God’s truth. They began depicting the newly rediscovered light of the Word in visual form. Notably, Peter Paul Rubens, who, through collaborations with printmakers and painters like Frans Snyders and Paulus Pontius, helped translate biblical revelation into masterful art. One such creation, The Garland of Fruit, symbolized the fruitful, visible testimony of God’s Word made manifest. A divine truth wrapped in beauty, bearing witness to salvation and restoration.
In England, the Word continued to spread, but not without resistance. Conflicts arose between monarchs, popes, and reformers as the truth of the Scriptures clashed with manmade religious traditions. Kings and queens both resisted and embraced reform at different times. Yet, in God's providence, this tension gave birth to a desire among believers to freely worship and obey God's Word, untainted by political control. This desire for Biblical faith over religious power led to the migration across the ocean, where a new nation could be established, founded on the truth of God’s Word and the liberty to live by it.
America was shaped in part by this movement of the Gospel. Through war, trial, and revival, from the founding to the Civil War and even now God continues to preserve His Word and work change within hearts through His Grace. That same living Word is the foundation of our work today.
Faith J Works stands on this unbroken thread of Biblical history. The unstoppable movement of God’s Word through nations, languages, and generations. This work is the Lord’s doing.
We serve the Church first and extend benevolence to others, with a heart for salvation and the hope of restoration. Every part of our work whether Gospel proclamation, service, spiritual encouragement, or outreach is rooted in Christ and His commission.
Where the Word of God brings light, and faith is made alive through salvation in Christ alone.
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16
May all we do reflect what we believe in our hearts, guided by the truth of His Word.
“Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.” Proverbs 16:3
May the work of our hands be rooted in faith, and may His Word guide every step
